Kempinski Hotel – A Grand Lighting Statement

We were honoured to contribute to the prestigious Kempinski Hotel, designed by Living Design. This project features a stunning 1200kg dimmable chandelier with 868 A-Tube Nano pendants by Lodes, the largest Lodes canopy installation to date. This breath-taking centrepiece blends grandeur with meticulous craftsmanship.

The reception area showcases the Algorithm light fitting by VIBIA, an installation with adjustable LED spheres adding a dynamic, sophisticated touch. In the bar, a custom-designed LedsC4 wood fixture enhances the contemporary ambiance.

DoubleTree by Hilton – Inspired by the Mediterranean

Drawing from the raw beauty of the Mediterranean, DoubleTree by Hilton integrates organic elements like semi-artificial trees, warm oak woods, and clay-finished decorative textures. Its earthy palette, accented with terracotta tones, creates a warm and inviting atmosphere.

A key highlight is the Palma luminaires by Vibia, designed by Antoni Arola. Floating above the sofa area, these globe-shaped lights appear suspended in mid-air, harmonising with the abundant foliage and reinforcing the organic, nature-inspired aesthetic of this space.

Bonus Project: Mercury Shopping Mall – A Bespoke Lighting Experience

As Malta’s leading lighting supplier and three-time Best Lighting Supplier award winner, ESS collaborated with Evolve Architecture to design the interior lighting for Mercury Shopping Mall.

This retail destination blends traditional and modern design elements, with lighting playing a crucial role in enhancing the ambiance. The space features gleaming metal details, panelled walls, and travertine stone floors.

A standout feature is the walkway ceiling, with lighting panels featuring circular cut-outs inspired by a cloudy sky. Developed with Atena Lux, an Italian custom lighting manufacturer, these panels span over 350 sqm and incorporate 580 galvanised aluminium components. Using state-of-the-art LED lighting, this installation not only illuminates but enhances the mall’s distinctive architecture.
